Not every camera operator who owns a cinema camera is qualified for political production. It also evaluates professional reliability, including punctuality, communication, preparation, and on-set demeanor.
We also look closely at discretion and political sensitivity, especially the ability to work in environments where confidentiality matters and where interactions with candidates, voters, and staff require a high level of professionalism. Broadcast standards knowledge is also essential, including an understanding of safe title area, audio levels, frame rates, and file delivery specifications. Prior experience with corporate, commercial, or political production also matters, rather than experience limited to event coverage or wedding videography.
