Review Questions Ahead of the Shoot

If you’re lucky enough to have the list of interview questions provided to you ahead of the shoot, do your best to review them and to formulate the answers or responses that you intend to provide. Think deeply about each question and consider how the answer that you provide could potentially help another customer or client that is in your shoes to find the brand useful for their needs.

The interviewer will likely ask you questions in addition to those that are provided ahead of the shoot, so be prepared to answer more than just those that are provided in writing. Most of the time, interviewers are going to ask additional questions that are guided largely by the answers that you share and which will help to guide the story that you’re sharing with the prospect. Don’t be afraid, try to be as comfortable and honest as you can be.

You can also come prepared to ask questions yourself, if you wish. Consider a handful of questions that you might want to ask the interviewer or the brand that pertain to the case study. This will help you to feel like you’re not in the hot seat, but instead are in control of the direction that the interview goes.

Structure Your Problem & The Solution that the Brand Provided

As you’re preparing for the interview, think about the problem that you had leading up to your decision to work with the brand. You should have a good story in mind, and a good understanding of how this problem impacted your life in a negative, worrisome, or otherwise unhealthy way. The goal is to share the challenges that you suffered from because those are going to be similar challenges that the case study audience is likely struggling with too. You’re building up the sense of “they’re not alone, you struggled too.”

Think also about how the brand that you decided to purchase from solved your problem or otherwise prevented you from having to continue on with a challenge. Preparing yourself to share the story behind the problem, and the solution, is a great way for you to be ready for the digital video interview. Tips like this will help you to feel more comfortable on camera, too.

Wear Comfortable Clothes that are Solid Colors

You’ll want to be sure to wear clothing that is comfortable on the day of your digital video interview. It’s also important that you avoid certain colors, such as green or possibly blue, just in case there is an intention to green screen the footage in post-production. Your business, brand, interviewer, or the producer behind the case study video will likely explain what colors are best for you to wear and what colors to avoid, but in case they don’t be sure that you don’t wear any clothes that are too busy with patterns or other works that could be hard for the audience to look away from. You don’t want your clothes to distract from your interview.

Be Prepared to Share Real World Data

Another major way that you can prepare for a digital video interview is to be prepared to share real world, raw data about the questions or situations that the interviewer asks you about. If you need to bring in written facts or figures, a chart, or any other visuals to support the data that you are going to share, don’t be afraid to do that as well. This will make your case study video more powerful and if you have raw data it’s going to show that you are a credible individual that is being interviewed.

Relax and Have Fun

One of the things that customers often overlook is the power of appearing relaxed and even as if you’re having fun on camera. In fact, one of the best digital video interview tips we can provide for you is to relax and have fun on camera. This is a once in a lifetime event for many customers to share their experience or satisfaction about a brand – don’t be afraid!
