3. Coven

No. of Episodes: 13

Coven is probably the most fun season of the series, incorporating plenty of horror elements to satiate your love for dark humor. This tale follows a group of modern witches who are considered outcasts because of their unique powers.

4. Freak Show

No. of Episodes: 13

Release Date: October 8, 2014

As the name suggests, Freak Show revolves around a circus of freaks, i.e. people with physical mutations and abnormalities. Every freak has his/her story and they’re brought together by one strange woman. This season is twisted, gruesome, and nightmarish, which makes it one of the best stories featured on American Horror Story.

5. Hotel

No. of Episodes: 12

Release Date: October 7, 2015

A mysterious hotel in LA is subject to disturbing paranormal events, yet it remains in business. People who check in seldom check out because once you die there, your ghost is stuck within the walls of the hotel for eternity. This season is famous for casting Lady Gaga in her first lead performance as an actor.

6. Roanoke

No. of Episodes: 10

Release Date: September 14, 2016

Roanoke is the second story in the series that focuses on a haunted house, but this one is based on a real-life mystery. A media crew moves into the house to film a show, but a sequence of paranormal activities ruins their plans. This season did not manage to receive much praise from the fans and critics, but it’s not bad.

7. Cult

No. of Episodes: 11

Release Date: September 5, 2017

Cult is about the uproar following the victory of Donald Trump in the elections. His presidency makes certain groups of people feel threatened, and a cult emerges to feed on their paranoia. The leader of the cult plays mind games, so the followers become his puppets.

8. Apocalypse

No. of Episodes: 10

Release Date: September 12, 2018

Following a nuclear apocalypse, a bunch of people are chosen to live in an underground sealed bunker to preserve humankind. The post-apocalyptic theme is horrific, but the story is captivating with the inclusion of an evil anarchist and the return of beloved coven witches who want to save the world from ending.

9. 1984

No. of Episodes: 9

Release Date: September 18, 2019

1984 takes us back to fads of the 80s and the reopening of summer camp set in the middle of the woods. The summer camp saw a massacre 14 years ago and it seems like history will repeat itself. This season of American Horror Story has the old-school slasher movie vibes, but not as predictable.

10. Double Feature

No. of Episodes: 10

Release Date: August 25, 2021

The tenth season of American Horror Story is called Double Feature because it tells two different stories. The first story takes up six episodes and is about magic pills that help creatives reach their true potential at a cost. The second story spanning four episodes is about creating the perfect alien and human hybrid.

11. NYC

No. of Episodes: 10

Release Date: October 19, 2022

NYC follows the mass deaths and disappearances of gay men in the 1980s, alongside the emergence of a new virus. 12. Delicate

No. of Episodes: 9

Release Date: September 20, 2023

The latest season titled Delicate is about a young actress at the peak of her career, who has been trying to have a baby with her husband for a long time. She finally gets pregnant, but encounters a series of strange occurrences that make her question her own sanity.
