How to Market Video Content to Promote Your Brand

If you build it, they will come. Not true! There’s so much more that goes into learning how to market video content to promote your business or brand. You can’t expect that you can just create a video, and voila you’ll get increased traffic and higher conversions overnight. It doesn’t work that way – at least, not exactly!

Learning how to market video content to promote your brand requires you to take a step back and plan a little bit. In fact, a little planning will go a long way at promoting your video and generating that increased traffic and higher conversions that you’re looking to achieve with your brand. Marketing video content is a lot like promoting your website or blog, but not exactly the same. You’ve got to remain consistent, and you must focus on quality, but it’s equally important for you to consider your target audience and what motivates them to take action.

All the video marketing in the world to the wrong audience won’t be beneficial at all. You’ve got to learn how to market video content in a way that will make it stand out to your target audience and make them compelled to take action. But how?

Optimize Video Thumbnails

Including a person in your thumbnail images can go a long way at driving increased click-through-rates for your video, but this isn’t the only step you should be taking to optimize your video thumbnails. Consider also including a few important keywords in the thumbnail image, something that will stand out and entice the audience to click. An insane statistic, figure, or fact can work as will buzz words. Just keep it to a minimum, you don’t want wordiness to outplay your image of a smiling face!

Include Social Share Buttons

Anytime you’ve got a video that is integrated into your website or blog, you should also include social share buttons to increase the likelihood of your audience sharing the content for you. While this doesn’t technically market your video, it can equate to free marketing for your video if enough people share the content for you. At bare minimum, you’ll generate a bit more traffic to your video as people share across social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest.

Don’t Forget SEO

Video SEO

An amazing video is only worth the amount of traffic that makes it to the video for a view. If you’re creating powerful video content, and then you’re missing SEO, you could be missing out on tons of organic traffic. The single easiest thing you can do to learn how to market video content to promote your brand is to incorporate some basic SEO into every video you introduce.

This means you’re writing a keyword friendly title, you’re writing an equally keyword rich description, and you’re including appropriate tags. Some video platforms will even allow you to include a transcript, if so – do it! The more you can allocate specific keywords to your content, the better your chances will be for organic traffic and rankings.

Don’t Forget to Share the Video Yourself

Sure, you can count on everyone else to do your dirty work, but if you’re posting videos and then you’re not taking the time out to share them across your various social media platforms and pages as well as with your email audiences and anyone else that will listen – why should someone else? You cannot possibly expect someone else to do something that you won’t even do for yourself, can you?

Videos are incredibly easy to share and they’re shareworthy. If you’re not producing shareworthy video content, then that’s your problem! Stop right here, and back up! Start producing share worthy video content that you are excited to share with your audience, and then you’ll get others excited to share your content too!

Use Video Across All Marketing Channels

Are you producing videos and just posting them in a single place? If you’re taking all the time out to produce quality video content, and then you’re only sharing it on a single platform or place such as in a blog post or in your email welcome campaign, you’re missing out on so much more opportunity.

Learning how to market video content to promote your brand begins with learning how you can integrate video into each of your marketing and advertising channels. In fact, in many cases, you can get away with integrating the same video across multiple channels. That’s right, one video – multiple use cases.

For instance, you can include video on your website to boost organic rankings, but have you ever considered also including that same video on your Facebook page to boost your reach? What about including that video in your email marketing campaign to increase click through rates and conversions?

If you’re legit creating videos that you are only using in a single use manner, you’re missing out on so much opportunity. You need to learn to market video content to promote your business by getting the most out of every video your budget can afford.  If that’s one video per month, so be it – make sure you share that video across all of your campaigns and in any way possible!
