Throughout the holiday season, there’s one common denominator – spending! From the world’s largest brands, to the tiniest small businesses, everyone is trying to get their share of the estimated $1,463 per household that is to be spent on holiday tidings. It might even seem, at any time while you’re out shopping or just trying to handle the day-to-day trip to the grocery store for milk, that things are out of control! You can’t walk into a store without being stopped by a bell, or a can shake, someone asking for donations to this event or that.

When it comes to retail, non-profits, and other forms of business, holiday times are a time to connect and make one last push towards the end of the year in hopes of a positive balance sheet for the fourth quarter.

To help you out with your holiday video marketing, we’ve put together some tips and tricks! Whether you’re a small business, or a major corporation, a non-profit or a retail giant, these holiday video marketing tips are going to help you make the most of the season.

  1. Thank Your Customers

One of the best ways to get in the good graces of customers is to thank them! Don’t be afraid to produce a thank you video that you can share with any and all customers that have been a part of your business over the past year. Giving thanks is a great way to show that you care about more than just the ever important “dollar.” This is your opportunity to run a campaign that gives back. Consider offering discounts, or charitable donations in exchange for any customers that engage in your campaign. It’s a great opportunity to maximize on the holiday cheer some of us feel and the desire to give back to our community.

  1. Don’t Over Promote

Around the holidays, one of the best things you can do, and the greatest pieces of advice we can offer is don’t over promote! Holiday times are so busy, consumers can get overwhelmed quickly. If you’re trying to show that you’re being charitable and helping the community, this is a an excellent tactic to make the most out of your holiday campaigns, but you’ve got to keep the message one of supporting others and spreading the cheer – not overly promoting your own business or brand!

Customers will recall the brands that go the extra mile to help others, rather than to over promote their brand for their own good. You know what they say, “what you give, will come back to you.”

  1. Share in Traditions

A great way to connect with a worldwide audience is in sharing traditions, particularly in such a divided world where we live. Consider holiday video marketing for social media that incorporates the use of team created tradition videos which encourage your audience to share their own traditions too. This is a great way to get everyone communicating on your social platforms so that you can build the conversation and get your community engaging with one another.

  1. Spread Joy

Holiday video marketing should focus on the theme of the holidays, and the spirit of giving. Spread joy among your audience, and encourage them to spread joy within their communities. A campaign in 2020 by Microsoft, called “Find Your Joy” focused on specifically the importance of not only finding joy, but on sharing joy with those you love.  Campaigns that help your audience to find joy in the holiday season, while showcasing the ways that your business can save them time, solve their problems, or otherwise contribute to their job are a great way to send the message.

  1. New Year, New Goals

Everyone starts to make their holiday or New Year’s resolutions around this time, and for some brands it’s the prime time of year for a holiday video marketing campaign that promotes just that. Consider a campaign that helps your audience to make a plan for the new year, whether you entice them to take a particular action, to purchase your product or service, or to otherwise set goals that involve your business for the new year, these kinds of campaigns are great at the end of the 4th quarter.

No matter what you decide, holiday video marketing for your business is a key opportunity to use the happiness and togetherness of the holidays to spread some cheer and engage your audience. Whether your promoting a product or service, building up audience awareness surrounding your brand, or just stopping in to say “Thank You” to those who are most important to your business, the holidays are prime time to engage, entertain, and enlighten your customers, prospects, and stakeholders – after all, you would not have a business if it were not for them!
