Los Angeles Videographer Services

A Los Angeles videographer is only as good as their read on the city, and shooting here comes down to knowing it well enough to beat it. We run crews from the Westside to Downtown all the time, so we already know how long the move from Santa Monica to the Arts District really takes at 2pm, which blocks let the truck park without a fight, and which residential streets need resident sign-off before anybody rolls.

This is a company town for production, so the bar is high and the logistics are no joke. FilmLA permits, neighborhood rules, traffic that eats half a day, the marine layer deciding when your exteriors actually look good. We plan the day around all of it and still get you clean corporate video, commercials, and event coverage on schedule. That’s the job.

    Filming in Los Angeles

What It's Like Filming in Los Angeles

Los Angeles gives you nearly any look you need inside a single metro: beaches in Santa Monica, glass towers Downtown, palm-lined residential streets in the Valley, and industrial backdrops in Vernon. The catch is the distance between them and the permitting that comes with shooting in the most-filmed city in the world.

Most public shoots run through FilmLA, the office that coordinates permits for the City and County. We handle scouting, neighborhood notifications, parking, and traffic control so the day stays on track.

    Beverly Hills & the Westside
Rodeo Drive, luxury storefronts, palm-lined residential streets, and upscale interiors
    Santa Monica & Venice Beach
The Pier, the beach, palm-lined boardwalks, and Abbot Kinney storefronts for bright coastal energy

Local Filming Tips (Save Your Crew Time)

    TOPICQUICK ADVICE
    Permits
File through FilmLA, usually a few business days ahead. Many residential neighborhoods require advance resident notification, and some areas have hard caps on filming days, so confirm the zone before you lock a location.
    Weather
The marine layer (“June Gloom”) can keep mornings flat and gray well into midday near the coast, then burn off to harsh midday sun. Schedule coastal exteriors for late morning onward, and watch fall fire-season air quality.
    Parking
Distance is the enemy. Build realistic company moves into the schedule, reserve truck parking through your FilmLA permit, and avoid crossing the city during the 7-10 AM and 3-7 PM crush.
    Traffic & Company Moves
Plan no more than two or three location moves a day. A jump from the Westside to Pasadena can eat 90 minutes midday, so group locations by region and shoot the farthest one first.
    Sound
Helicopters, freeway hum, and leaf blowers are constant in parts of LA. Scout interiors for dialogue, and watch flight paths near LAX, Burbank, and Santa Monica airports.

Fantastic professionals that exceeded our expectations. Looking forward to working with them again.

    Harman Professional Solutions

I’m a freelance camera operator in Orlando and have worked with Beverly Boy Productions on three projects over the past few years. Each shoot was organized, professional, and ran on time. Call sheets were clear, communication was solid, and the team respected the freelance crew.

    Max Lenz

Despite some tight time constraints, Beverly Boy Productions kept everything running smoothly and on schedule. Felice and her team’s time management skills were truly impressive, and they were always able to adapt quickly to any changes that arose.

    Terry Cristain

Lana at Beverly Boy has been extremely helpful in finding me videographers in multiple locations across the country, sometimes at extremely short notice. The process has always been smooth, simple, and a huge relief.

    Evan Stultz

Hired them for an exterior commercial shoot — not always the easiest conditions. The crew was well crafted, and the lighting techniques they used were truly top-notch. Gordon and his crew were able to create a range of different lighting setups to suit each scene.

    Common Questions

FAQs — Hiring a Videographer in Los Angeles

Half-day, single-camera shoots in LA generally run $1,900 to $2,700, while multi-day projects with a Local 600 DP, IATSE Local 728 crew, Inspire-class drone work, and full post land in the $14K to $22K range. FilmLA permit fees, neighborhood notification requirements, traffic-driven company moves, and rush edits all shift the total, so we issue a transparent, line-item bid that lets you adjust scope before you green-light.
Most weeks we are shooting commercials and branded content in Culver City, corporate and tech video on the Westside and in Silicon Beach, and lifestyle pieces in Santa Monica and Venice. We also cover premieres, launches, and conferences Downtown, so the slate runs from polished agency commercials to fast social content without missing a beat.
For weekday shoots, 2 to 3 weeks is usually enough to lock crew and permits. Anything that needs residential notifications, multiple locations, or a busy zone fills faster, so 4 to 6 weeks is the safer window to secure your preferred crew and dates.
Yes. We manage the full process through FilmLA, including location scouting, neighborhood notifications, parking reservations, and traffic control for equipment vehicles.
Yes. Our ground crews run Sony FX9/FX6, RED V-RAPTOR X, and ARRI ALEXA Mini LF systems. For aerial, we fly DJI Inspire 3 drones with FAA Part 107 certified pilots and secure the airspace authorizations needed for LA’s controlled zones near major airports.
Beyond the base crew and gear, plan for LA-specific line items. FilmLA permits and monitor fees apply to most public shoots, and some neighborhoods require paid notifications or have filming-day caps. Company moves between distant locations eat into the schedule, so multi-location days may need an extra half-day. Fire-season air quality, union rates, and rush edits can also move the total, so we list each one separately to keep the bid clear.
A polished 3-minute video typically falls within our Tier 2 ($2,500 to $4,500) to Tier 3 ($4,500 to $7,500) pricing range, depending on complexity, number of shoot locations, crew size, and post-production needs. Simple interview-style videos land on the lower end, while multi-location pieces with graphics and licensed music fall on the higher end.
