Dumplings are popular in many places in the world, but Russian dumplings are thin, stuffed with minced meat, onion and herbs, and then topped with melted butter, sour cream, tomato sauce, or vinegar, making for a dumpling meal you have to try. Blini. Breakfast or dinner, traditional Russian pancakes are good anytime. These wafer-thin pancakes are similar to crepes, made from wheat or flour and topped with jam, butter, and other sweets. You can also have them savory by topping them with sour cream, butter and caviar. They are folded into triangles or rolled to keep the toppings in.
Shchi. If you have visited Russia when it is a bit cool, warm up with Cabbage soup, or Shchi. This dish dates back to the 9th century and is usually served in summer, but can definitely be enjoyed anytime. You can get it with or without meat, fish, vegetables, and more, and each way to prepare the ingredients is different, so you have a variety of ways to try it.
