Right-of-Way Film Permit
Required for commercial or student filming in City streets, sidewalks, alleys, or parking lanes, including b-roll and still photography.
Application Timing
Commercial and mobile film permit applications are due at least three business days before filming. Austin Police Department applications require at least five business days.
Parks and City Facilities
Filming in City parks requires coordination with Austin Parks and Recreation. Libraries and other City facilities have separate booking and documentation requirements.
Insurance and Supporting Documents
Filming on most City property requires insurance documentation. Traffic plans, location notifications, parking requests, or additional departmental approvals may also apply.
