Texas FIlm Commission COVID Health Standards Checklist

Austin video production services were abruptly closed in March following an order by the U.S. Government to limit all non-essential businesses in an effort to reduce COVID-19 spread. It was soon realized that safe practices for media production would be necessary in order for the continued operation of film studios and sets throughout Austin as well as around the world. The Texas Film Commission set forth several standard protocols for the safe operation of equipment and continued delivery of media production services on set.

Safety standards set forth in the checklist are as follows:

  • Employees, cast, crew, and contractors should maintain social distancing whenever possible.
  • Face coverings are required when social distancing cannot be maintained unless on the film set.
  • Indoor set capacity and capacity on location should be limited to 75% occupancy or less.
  • Prior to entrance on the set, all cast, crew, and contractors should be medically screened for COVID symptoms.
  • Temperature checks and questionnaires to ensure COVID-risks are limited should take place.
