Exciting Video Marketing Predictions for 2024

If you made it through (or mostly through) 2023 without fully turning to video marketing, or for some reason you’re still not totally convinced that video is the most important type of content to create for your brand right now, you’ve still got a little time to get it together. HINT: It’s time to get on board! In fact, if you’re like me, you’re already thinking about how you can use video and other marketing tools for your campaigns to accelerate your growth above and beyond what you were able to achieve in 2023. These exciting video marketing predictions for 2024 not only further prove that video is here to stay, but also that it should be a significant part of your marketing plan.

Just over the past 5 years, video marketing has catapulted with stronger forward momentum than we’ve seen with any other content form in the past. Just consider the following progression of how many businesses have used video marketing in their campaigns over recent years:

  • 2017 – 63% of brands were using video.
  • 2018 – 81% of brands were using video.
  • 2019 – 87% of brands were using video.
  • 2020 – 85% of brands were using video.
  • 2021 – 86% of brands were using video.
  • 2022 – 88% of brands were using video.

We’ve literally gone from a point where video was something that only Enterprise level businesses could afford to 2 out of 3 businesses using video, to nearly 9 out of 10 businesses using video in just 5 years. Video is more accessible for businesses than ever before and 66% of consumers expect the brands they know and love to deliver video content that they can relate to and engage with.

Here’s what we predict will happen in regards to video marketing in 2024.

Shoppable Videos & Live-Shopping Events

If you’re an eCommerce brand or a business that sells any sort of product, you need to be prepared for what 2024 has to offer! The shift is largely going to be towards the live-shopping experience and shoppable videos. Not only are big brands like IKEA already preparing for this shift, but so are many social media giants including Facebook (Meta), Pinterest, and Instagram.

In one of the most elaborate video marketing predictions for 2024, we expect to see the shoppable video and live shopping video experience to take over much of the way we shop online in the next year. Not only that, but social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Pinterest will become the go-to sources for shopping and sales.

If you’re an eComm business owner, you need to be thinking about how you will get on the live shopping wagon to ride the wave and consider the creation of interactive shoppable videos that your audience can engage and purchase from.

Social Media

360° Videos & Product Demos

As consumers largely shift to shopping online, partly because of the COVID-19 pandemic continuing to wan as well as because stores are largely facing the economic crisis and lack of delivery, we expect to see a rise in the need for 360° videos and product demos. Brands that produce these types of videos as part of their overall marketing campaigns are going to see increases in sales and consumer satisfaction.

We also expect  a rise in the use of 3D visuals and configurations. If you’re selling products that have features which are largely configurable, consider implementing video content which allows your user to engage and configure products before they purchase. This will help to cut back on returns while providing an amazing consumer experience.

Short-Form Video is Priority

We saw short-form video take off in 2020, and TIkTok continued to grow exponentially in 2021 to more than 1 Billion users across 150 countries, and now YouTube Shorts are competing for a piece of the pie. If you’re not engaged in short video marketing, you’re absolutely guaranteed to miss out on a huge market in 2024.

Brands, marketing both to consumers and to businesses, need to be using short-form video to their advantage. Surprisingly, 32% of marketers state that 2024 will be their first time leveraging short-form video. If you’re not already testing out your skills, you need to get your feet wet and get started!

Use short form video to:

  • Increase brand awareness
  • Increase brand revenue and sales
  • Increase brand authority

It’s literally 15 to 30 seconds of your time – just do it! Demand for short-form video is growing exponentially while you wait around. Don’t miss out on this opportunity.

Segmented Videos & Clustering Become Second Nature

If you’re not already using a segmented video approach, you could be missing out on a ton of opportunity and traffic. YouTube has introduced Channels which allow for the segmenting of videos and represents an incredible opportunity to grow your video SEO. Not only that, but various other platforms will be introducing segmented video opportunities in the coming months, too.

Use segmented video marketing and build your brand through social media clustering topics just as you would on your website. You can’t go wrong if you’re reaching out to consumers on social media and using all your tricks on these platforms in 2024.

As you can see, there’s a lot of exciting video marketing predictions for 2024 taking place. What will happen and become most popular in the next 12 months? We all can’t wait to see!
