The City of Boston is culturally vibrant and full of amazing locations to capture raw footage. The birthplace of some of America’s most recognized Hollywood actors and actresses, Boston is certainly an attractive city that draws filmmakers from all around. 1. Boston’s Public Garden

A film location that has attracted several movie makers over the years and that draws local residents throughout the spring and summer months, Boston’s Public Garden and Park was seen in Ted as well as in Good Will Hunting.

Filmmakers love the area for the lush greenery and the lakefront which is typically full of ducks during the spring and summer.

2. Fenway Park

Quite possibly one of the most iconic filming locations Boston has to offer, but also probably one of the most iconic locations in the state of Massachusetts, Fenway Park is home to the Red Sox Baseball team.

An amazing landmark all its own, Fenway Park has been featured in several movies over the years including Good Will Hunting, Moneyball, and Spotlight.

3. Beacon Street Bridge

One of several bridges that cross the Charles River, the Beacon Street Bridge was featured in The Social Network over a decade ago and represents an attractive backdrop of water that is frequently captured by filmmakers interested in capturing the regatta.

Also in the area, Beacon Hill next to Boston Commons frequently draws a cinematographer’s eye.

4. Massachusetts State House

The Massachusetts State House is located along the north side of Boston Common representing one of the most iconic film locations. Boston landmarks like the Massachusetts State House are a symbol of the rich history and culture this ancient city has to offer to filmmakers.

5. Church of the Covenant

Featuring some of the most impressive architecture, this church dates back to 1865 when it was built by the Central Congregational Church. You might recognize the location from the Boondock Saints scenes that were captured here from between the pews.

This is one of several historic church locations that is represented as a National Historic Landmark within the city.

6. The Bull and Finch Bar (AKA Cheers Pub)

As you walk up Beacon Street, several attractions are likely to catch your interest. The Bull and Finch Bar is one of them. If you don’t recognize the name, perhaps you’ll recognize the television show that was inspired by the Bar – Cheers? Although the show wasn’t filmed here, tourists continue to flock to the Pub for a glimpse of the history this iconic film location has to offer.

7. The Quincy Riverwalk & Bridge

The Quincy Bridge draws commuters over the Neponset River into Boston or out of Boston by way of the south side. 9. Franklin Park

Featured in Mystic River, which happened to actually showcase several cities and towns throughout Boston, Franklin Park is certainly a filmmaker’s delight. This is an especially iconic location for filmmakers interested in creating an eerie scene.

10. Murphy’s Law

Representing a traditional Irish pub that allows for some amazing relaxation and good times with the film crew, Murphy’s Law is one of the most Iconic filming locations Boston filmmakers visit and is equally loved by locals too.
