This is Why You Need to Create Case Study Videos

Did you know that more than 80% of consumers perform research online prior to making a purchase? Did you know that they’re looking for one specific thing when they do that research and it’s not necessarily price, brand, or style regardless of what it is they are shopping for? It’s pretty safe to say that there’s one thing that consistently drives consumer decision making more than price, more than branding, and more than any other factor regardless of what it is they are purchasing – and that’s consumer reviews!

Reviews, such as those that are often fully detailed in case studies, have more power to convert leads than price, branding, style, color, or any other factor that comes up when shopping for a product or service. In fact, when it comes down to it, most consumers will walk away from a purchase if they see that the product or service they were considering is backed by negative reviews or feedback from other consumers. Even if the price is right, the brand is on point, and the style is just what the individual was looking for, if the feedback is poor, it’s no deal!

This is why you need to create case study videos! It’s not because case studies are fun to watch, or because they are full of tons of information for the consumer, or because they provide key details that the consumer might use to help them make a purchase decision (well, not entirely, anyway).

Figuring out why to create case study videos is half of the solution if you’re trying to garner more conversions, leads, or sales, but the next step is to determine how you can use the case study videos to achieve your goal!

Real Data & Real Scenarios Sell

The reality is, you can be on point with your branding, you can have your marketing targeted just right, and you can offer all of the styles or services that your audience wants from your brand, but if you don’t have real world proof that others have bought into your product and benefitted from their purchase, then you’re going to struggle to make sales. It doesn’t matter what industry you’re in or what you’re trying to sell. People want social proof before they’re willing to convert themselves.

The reasons why you need to create case study videos is because consumers want to see proven real world data, resulting from proven real world scenarios, to help them make their own purchase decisions.

Just think about it…

If you’re shopping for roller blades, you’re going to go into your mission armed with an idea of what you want, including a love for a certain type of roller blade, a certain color and style, maybe even a certain brand. You’re also going to have a budget for which you expect to be able to make your purchase without going over. You begin your research online, first you narrow down by budget, and brand, and then by color, and style. When you’ve found a few options that fall within your guidelines, what will you do next?

You certainly won’t make the purchase, not just yet! You’re undoubtedly going to go straight on over to the reviews to find out what others are saying. Are the wheels high quality? Do they spin easily? Do they hold up and withstand wear and tear? Are they comfortable? While reading reviews, not just any reviews are going to count. You’re looking for reviews from consumers that are using the roller blades under similar conditions, scenarios or circumstances to those for which you intend to use them in. You’re looking for proof that other people, just like you that do the things you intend to do with the roller blades are satisfied with their purchase.

If you find reviews that are positive, that you can relate with, and that provide all of the key details that you’re looking for about the brand, style, color or type of roller blades that you’re interested in, you follow through with the purchase. If you find negative reviews, you go back to the starting point, and begin seeking reviews on the next set of roller blades that are on your list.

The same goes for if you were shopping for a car, a realtor to purchase a home from, or a company to work with on a project. You’re not convinced to make the purchase until you get proof that others have already been there, done that, and come out satisfied.

Case Study Videos are Consumer Reviews in Detail

Still wondering what all of this has to do with case study videos or why to create case study videos for your business? Well, case study videos are consumer reviews in full, lengthy detail. In other words, producing a case study video that shows off the reviews that your top customers or clients have in regards to your brand, business, product or service, is the best way to deliver reviews right to your target audience for increased conversions for your business.

In fact, a study by eMarketer found that 62.6% of survey respondents believe that the use of case studies are effective at generating leads. Client case studies were actually one of the leading self-promotional tactics used by agencies and found to be beneficial for digital marketing brands.

The fact is, you need to create case study videos if you want to reach your audience with:

  • Social proof that your product or service is liked by consumers.
  • Details of the industry-specific needs that your business or brand is fulfilling.
  • Expert, targeted results that consumers who purchase your products or services are experiencing.
  • A demonstration of exactly how your business is solving client problems.
  • An emphasis on the benefits that your business provides rather than just the features that you offer.

Creating Case Study Videos Requires Careful Consideration

There’s more to why to create case study videos. You can’t just create a case study and expect that your audience is going to respond positively. While this is the goal, you must plan your case study out appropriately if you want your audience to respond properly. You must be sure that you’re producing a case study video that is going to directly speak to your prospective customers and overcome any objections they may have to purchasing from you.

You need to:

  • Identify your audience and then identify the customers that they’ll resonate most closely with.
  • Identify the most appropriate questions to ask your customers in order to establish credibility for your audience and to build the storyline and plot.
  • Pull customer quotes from the interviews that you perform and use those in producing your case study videos for maximum authenticity.
  • Ensure any quotes that you include create maximum value proposition for your target audience.
  • Frame your case study around the details that your customers provide and in such a way that your consumer audience will be most likely to engage.
  • Prove the benefits of your product with real world data and scenarios, just like in the examples provided in the story above.
